Every year, I like to get into the Halloween spirit by watching Halloween specials and horror films. It’s a great way to celebrate the holiday with my like-minded friends, and my wife who adores Halloween as much as I do. I can’t ever seem to have enough time to get to everything I want to watch, but I feel like this year I made a decent dent.
Hellraiser
I was super pumped for this flick, and while it was a decent watch, it didn’t blow my socks off. I commend the filmmakers for the restrait they used with CGI and the last half of the movie is pretty solid, but it was definitely a one-time watch for me.

So… I made two mistakes here. The first mistake I made is watching a Ti West movie. I’ve never seen one I liked, and I decided a few years back to stop wasting my time. The second mistake I made was not listening to my friend Michael, who normally has very similar tastes to mine. The first forty minutes are great and this movie has all the elements of things that I like in horror. Then it gets weird and I’m sure that’s some of the appeal for some people, but definitely not for me. I ended up fast forwarding through the second half of the film and I should have found something else to watch.
Chucky Season One
My wife’s not scared of much in life, but Chucky is something that trauamtized her as a child. So, it was pretty brave of her to give the TV show a chance last year. Things went smoothly the first two or three episodes, but then it became a show we had to watch earlier in the evening and that just wasn’t ideal, so slowly it got pushed to the back burner. Now with season two starting up, and my wife’s side hustle picking up, I decided to go ahead and finish up season one so I can start season two. I have to draw the line at waiting to finish a season when a full year comes around.
Roddy Piper, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby The Brain Host Halloween Prime Time (10-30-1989)
This video features all of the hosting segments from an episode of WWF Prime Time from 1989. The matches have been removed, which is a bit of a bummer, but it was nice to have just a solid block of The Brain, Gorilla, and Roddy Piper, in various costumes giving each other a hard time.
Fox Kid’s Saturday Morning Cartoons – Halloweekend 1990’s
This was an unexpected treat. This talented YouTuber has basically re-created a Fox Saturday Morning Cartoon block using full length episodes with commericals of TV shows from around the era. It’s not 100% year specific, but it’s close enough that I couldn’t tell the difference. I will say, this particular set features an episode of Bobby’s World, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Eek! the Cat, Life with Louie, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?, Big Bad Bettleborgs, Goosebumps, and Count DeClue’s Mystery Castle. In all honesty, the only shows I ever watched from this list was Bobby’s World and Life with Louie, but I really enjoyed everything. It was great background noise for when I worked on blogs or just needed some time to decompress.
Brooklyn 99 Halloween Episodes
A couple of years ago, I started watching Brooklyn 99 and I stalled out around season four. I’ve been planning on finishing it up, but that day hasn’t come yet. After seeing the great Blockbuster trailer Netflix put out, I felt inspired to watch a little Brooklyn 99 and when I saw Peacock had listed all the Halloween episodes together I knew that’s where I wanted to start. The series does a wondeful job at creating great Halloween episodes that are memorable and one day I’ll have a post dedicated to all of the episodes because every one of them is worth watching.
