My History With the Film:
I watched this movie when it first came out on VHS back in 1996/1997. I remember thinking that this was a reverse version of The Crush starring Alicia Silverstone from a few years prior. When Fear was released, Mark Wahlberg was an unproven actor and was known primarily for his bad music and Calvin Klein ads. To me he was just some random dude starring in some thriller that looked like The Crush.
I remember watching the film and thinking it was good. Until this recent watch, I haven’t seen it since I first rented it twenty years ago.
What The Film Is About (Non-Spoiler):
A nice girl falls for what seems to be the perfect guy, but he has a scary dark side hidden beneath that perfect smile and kindness.

Additional Notes:
-Written by Christopher Crowe (Last of the Mohicans) who also wrote Nightmares, a fun anthology horror film from 1983.
-Fun fact: Anytime that David or Nicole says I love you, the other doesn’t say it back.
-Chucky can be seen briefly on a shelf in David’s house.
